Lucy Owen
SAPHNA Business Manager
I am a dedicated business professional with extensive experience in strategic development and project management within the education and charity sectors, where I have made significant contributions to programmes benefiting children and young people. Holding a first-class degree in Applied Education Studies and PRINCE2 certification, I have a strong foundation in educational practices and leadership.
As the former CEO of the Dyspraxia Foundation, I led the organisation towards its strategic goals, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency, stakeholder engagement, and income generation. Prior to that, I spent several years at The IET, where I managed the FIRST® LEGO® League programme, a global STEM initiative for children aged 4–16. Under my leadership, the programme’s engagement grew by 130%, reaching nearly 36,000 young participants across the UK and Ireland. My work involved developing resources that supported teachers, coaches, and volunteers, ensuring a positive impact on the young minds involved.
My earlier career included roles as a Specialist Speech, Language, and Communication Teaching Assistant, where I worked directly with young students to support their educational development. I also served as a Pupil Premium Champion, advocating for disadvantaged students and helping to close the achievement gap.
Now a freelance business consultant, I continue to focus on optimising operations and maximising the impact of programmes and organisations that serve young people. I also work with a variety of organisations, including those who support the disabled and neurodivergent communities. I am passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation and supporting organisations that make a difference in children’s lives.
In my personal life, I enjoy reading, staying active, and travelling. I am also a proud mother to a 15-year-old son.
