Ella Hornby
SAPHNA Student Ambassador
I graduated as a qualified Adult Nurse in 2022 after completing my Adult Nursing degree through the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this, I have been a night-shift carer within a residential home when the first COVID lockdown was put into place. I started my journey as a school health nurse in 2022 and after a year of being in post, I was encouraged to apply for the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) degree as a school nurse. I will be finishing this course in October and beginning my role as a Specialist Practitioner in school health. I thoroughly enjoyed representing my cohort whilst being a SAPHNA student ambassador as it has allowed me to connect with SCPHN students nation-wide and has helped me to support my peers with various topics and subjects that they wanted to learn more about. Supporting children and their families within the community has been a dream role of mine and being able to do this whilst supporting my fellow peers has been an incredible experience. I am looking forward to where my school nursing journey takes me, and I look forward to working closely alongside SAPHNA after my student ambassador role has ended.
