Claire Clifford

SAPHNA Student Ambassador

I graduated as a registered Adult Nurse in 2017 and I have worked within Cardiothoracic surgery, A&E, Cardiac Surgery, the Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) team, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I was also redeployed to the Adult Intensive Care Unit during the COVID-19 pandemic. I feel my nursing background has provided me with many transferable skills and a wealth of knowledge.

I started my role as a community public health nurse (CPHN) in 2022, and I worked within the 0-19 children’s nursing service for a year before starting my MSc in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nursing), which I am due to complete later this year.

I feel very lucky to have been chosen as one of SAPHNA’s SCPHN Student Ambassador’s this year. This opportunity has enabled me to work closely with the other student ambassador’s, Liz and Ella, and also with Julie Critcher. The role has involved taking part in the SIGs and supporting other students, which has been invaluable. I thoroughly enjoy school nursing and supporting children, young people and their families. I’m looking forward to completing the course and starting my career within school nursing and being a part of the wonderful school nursing community.
