Professional development for School Nurses
SAPHNA is excited to launch our new members’ offer of ‘communities of practice’ to support networking and professional development for school and public health nurses and their skill mixed teams. These will replace our special interest groups.
What are they?
Communities of practice (CoPs) are networks of professionals that share common goals or interests. CoPs can be sources of knowledge, learning and support. Our CoP’s are facilitated by one of SAPHNA’s professional leads or a member of SAPHNA’s Expert Advisory Group.
Our aim
To bring together practitioners who share an interest in the topic area and are committed to working together to developing excellence in practice through developing and sharing resources, ideas, and tools.
Who are they for?
All practitioners that are individual or corporate members of SAPHNA can join our COP’s, they are free benefit of membership. For practitioners who are not members of SAPHNA we do charge to join. We do offer free places to those students undertaking the SCPHN course, for the duration of the course.
We ask that practitioners sign an ‘term of reference’ (TOR) when they apply to join a COP. We want to create a safe and respectful space, and our TOR will set out expectations including confidentiality, living ‘the code’, commitment and attendance. Click here to read our TOR’s.
When and how will they be delivered?
We aim to offer each of the COP’s once every school term, usually at lunchtimes. They will be held online using Microsoft Teams. These will not be recorded. We will produce a ‘Bitesize Learning’ resource which will be available in our membership area of the website and to those non-members who paid to join the COP.
How do I join a COP?
The dates and times and booking information for each of our COP’s is on the events page of SAPHNA’s website – Our Events | SAPHNA – School And Public Health Nurses Association
