Change is in the air

It is an exciting time at SAPHNA. We have been refreshing our strategy, which our trustees, staff, volunteers, and members have all helped shape, and we thank everyone for their contributions. We remain committed to raising the profile of school and public health nursing and the contribution and impact that the workforce has on school-aged children and young people’s health and wellbeing and on reducing health inequalities. SAPHNA will continue to support the workforce to deliver excellence in school and public health nursing practice. To read more about our strategy visit SAPHNA Strategy2025-2028 | SAPHNA – School And Public Health Nurses Association.

We are continuing to build capacity within SAPHNA to achieve our goals and have advertised for a Professional Officer to join our team, and to create a bank of freelance Consultants with expertise in school and public health nursing and the wider public health agenda. We have an Expert Advisory Group (EAG) who are volunteers that bring a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience, supporting SAPHNA to achieve its vision. We have openings for new EAG members – if you are interested, please click here for further information.

SAPHNA would like to take this opportunity to thank staff and volunteers who are moving on to fresh challenges, pastures new and next steps.

Anne-Marie Gallogly is stepping down as Deputy Professional Officer to balance her ‘retire and return’ role in the NHS with her personal commitments. We thank Anne-Marie for the energy, commitment, and knowledge that she bought to this role, and we are delighted that Anne-Marie is staying with SAPHNA as a member of the EAG.

A big thank you is also extended to Rita Jennings, Ann Podsiadly and Jess Streeting who have all been long standing members of the SAPHNA committee and latterly the EAG, sharing their knowledge, expertise, and wisdom to take forward school and public health nursing practice. We wish them well in their next steps.
