The Forgotten Frontline: Public Health School Nursing
Unveiling the Realities of School & Public Health Nursing in the UK – A Survey Report
Practitioner intelligence about what the frontline is like is very powerful. So, at the beginning of 2024 SAPHNA asked school nurses and members of the skill mix team to complete an online survey about school nursing in the UK. We asked questions about the health of school aged children and young people, how school nursing teams are structured, what elements of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19 is being delivered, how staff are feeling, the challenges of the role and importantly, we asked school nurses to share examples of good practice and innovation. SAPHNA aims to use the results of the survey to influence policy, policy makers and advocate for school-aged children and young people
