Letter to the Minister in advance of the Spring budget

SAPHNA and the Institute of Health Visiting have today jointly written to Neil O’Brien MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Primary Care and Public Health) Department of Health and Social Care, imploring that he considers urgent increased investment into health visiting and school nursing so that we stand a chance of turning the tide on the worsening inequalities and health and wellbeing outcomes for babies, children and young people.

It is imperative that we stop throwing good money after bad after children have fallen into the fire, rather, we need to prevent them falling into the fire in the first place through preventative public health nursing services delivered by this expert and specialist workforce
