SAPHNA are delighted to have launched their survey today at a House of Lords event hosted by Baroness De Sousa, attended by a wealth of MP’s, DHSC, OHID, Royal Colleges, strategists, policy leads and decision-makers. We urge you all to utilise this at each and every level as we continue our campaign for A School Nurse In Every School

Then followed a rally to Downing Street where we handed in our ongoing Petition: A School Nurse for Every School

Following this MP Neil Duncan Jordan has tabled a Governmental Early Day Motion to conduct a deep dive debate in parliament on school nursing. School nurses – Early Day Motions – UK Parliament

  • Share the survey report far and wide and usefully use in your school nursing   discussions

Practitioner intelligence about what the frontline is like is very powerful.  So, at the beginning of 2024 SAPHNA asked school nurses and members of the skill mix team to complete an online survey about school nursing in the UK. We asked questions about the health of school aged children and young people, how school nursing teams are structured, what elements of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19 is being delivered, how staff are feeling, the challenges of the role and importantly, we asked school nurses to share examples of good practice and innovation. SAPHNA aims to use the results of the survey to influence policy, policy makers and advocate for school-aged children and young people.
