CHAMPIONS Project – follow up

CHAMPIONS is a national research project which is working across England to find ways to improve the post-COVID support for children under 5 living in temporary accommodation while experiencing homelessness. The project is a collaboration between UCL, De Montfort University and The Children’s Society and led by paediatrician and researcher Prof Monica Lakhanpaul. This link is to our project brochure giving more details about the project’s aims. CHAMPIONS Project brochure

We are looking for professionals to take part in our research. We are aiming to produce the evidence that policymakers have asked us to supply in order to make changes and to provide appropriate support for children living in temporary accommodation during COVID recovery. School nurses are key to this and we really need to hear from you.

Interview

This would be a research interview of 45-60 minutes covering how COVID affected families, how service delivery may have changed, and their views on what is needed to support children under 5 for pandemic recovery.

Survey

This is an online survey which can be completed in 15-20 minutes: http://tinyurl.com/champions-prof-survey

We have been told by other professionals such as health visitors how important school nurses are in the network of support and safeguarding for these vulnerable children, but we have not as yet been able to speak to any – so we are hoping that, despite the huge pressure of time we know people are under, that a few people can make time for this.
