Free theatre workshops for children and young people

Changing Narratives: Theatre production recruitment

We’re excited to announce that, as part of its collaboration with the University of Kent on the Changing Narratives programme, the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) will be working with Chickenshed Theatre to run a series of workshops and a theatre performance led by disabled, children’s social care-experienced and migration-experienced children and young people.

The aim of Changing Narratives, part of NCB’s Living Assessments project, is to put children and young people’s lived experiences at the heart of our research and to make their voices heard. The workshops will explore a series of topics including mental health, children’s social care and more, and they will encourage participants to explore and share their own experiences in a creative way.

The workshops start on 25 May and will run fortnightly at the Chickenshed Theatre, north London, with a performance planned for early 2025.

Children and young people who identify as at least one of the following are welcome and encouraged to apply:

  • Disabled
  • With experience of children’s social care
  • With experience of the UK immigration system
