Dear colleagues, our wonderful colleagues at Growing against violence have produced the following fabulous resources to support your critical safeguarding works
Introduction to the four films and channel. This provides a very brief narrative in respect of the films and use:
Two of these films age appropriate and have been designed for young people to access:
So Social Media.
This is an interactive video for young children, Primary School Year 5 & 6 and Parents. The video provides awareness of the online dangers that include:
- Tracking Moves
- Oversharing and
- Inappropriate photographs.
We recommend that the video is viewed by young people with adult supervision in order to encourage open dialogue in respect of the important topics that could have a detrimental impact on well-being.
Friend v Friendly
This is an interactive video for young people in Secondary School, Year 7 and above including parents. The video provides age appropriate awareness of the dangers associated with online activity that include.
- Determining who is a true friend
- What is Remote mothering
- Oversharing of information
- Grooming and
Two further films have been designed specifically for Parents and Professionals, which I have age restricted.
Parents/Teachers/Professionals Social Media safeguarding tips
This is an interactive video, 14 minutes long that provides social media safeguarding tips and advice. The video is age restricted and not recommended for viewing by anyone under 18 years of age.
The current pandemic has highlighted an increase in online offenders targeting young people using social media platforms. The video identifies risks concerning:
- Privacy Locations settings
- Remote Controlling
- Indecent Images
- Sexting and
Criminal Exploitation – County lines
This video is age restricted and not recommended for viewing by anyone under 18 years of age. The video is 11 minutes in duration. The video provides in depth information for Parents, Teachers and Professionals associated with the criminal exploitation of young and vulnerable people by gangs involved in ‘County Lines’ activity. ‘County Lines’ refers to exploitation and drug dealing among urban street gangs. The video features definitions used in connection with ‘County Lines’ and highlights the associated risks, such as:
The Myths and Realities of ‘County Lines’ are exposed along with the use of remote controlling and technology to constantly track exploited people. Importantly the video sets out how to spot the signs of young/vulnerable persons being exploited.

We are also currently in the development stage of providing online training for schools and professionals. Once developed this will of course add value to our face to face classroom training our preferred model.
